The main functions of the Engineering Department are Preparation of plans and estimates for civil works, Construction and maintenance of roads, Construction of buildings, Execution of civil works, Construction and maintenance of drains, Maintenance of water supply.

Civil work Department

The Department is in charge of all activities pertaining to planning, Construction and maintenance of all categories of Roads and all Government owned Buildings. These activities constitute a vital component of developmental work in the State.

This Department provides services to the residents of Mandi City as per the provision of HPMC Act, 1994. Under this act, the Department is providing various basic amenities such as:-

• Roads & Road side drains,
• M/T & Re-surfacing of Roads,
• Repair & maintenance of Roads/Paths/ Streets,
• Construction & maintenance of Nallahs,
• Repair & maintenance of Rain Shelter,
• Providing railings on road side,
• Construction of R/walls to the road and
• Construction of Shops, Buildings, Car parking, Community Halls etc.
• P/F Street Lights & High Mast Lights
